Oxyclean
Submitted by: Anonymous on January 10th, 2006
First off Oxyclean isn't a sanitizer but for those that use it for cleaning I have found that instead of using the recommended 2 scoops per gallon for soaking that you can easily use only 1 scoop per gallon with great results. In fact I plan to go even lower that that next time. The stuff isn't cheap and it goes fast if you use the recommended amount.

I buy my Oxyclean from the local Dollar stores. It might not be the same formula or as strong as the real stuff but the price is right and it appears to do just as good a job as the brand name stuff. I use it to clean everything, kettle, fermenters, bottles etc... |

Even one scoop in a cruddy (6.5-gallon) fermenter does wonders. |

The stuff I got from the HomeBrew store in my starter set seems like OxyClean, only packaged differently. They said it would be fine for sanitizing...So, is or is not OxyClean a sanitizer? |
