Stubborn Beer stone inside kegs

Submitted by: my brain on September 25th, 2004

For those kegs that have stubborn laced beer stone on the inside where it is hard to get your arms to scrub, I've had success with CLR cleaner. It is a caustic and takes the beer stone out in minutes.
Be careful opening the flip lid and be sure to where rubber gloves. Then squirt it around the inside top of the keg and make sure it wets the walls all the way down. If you want more exposure with it, put the lid on the keg and roll it around on it's side to coat the keg wall well. After that CAREFULLY dump the contents down the drain(good idea to wear eye protection also) then rinse keg thoroughly and your keg is ready to rock and roll.

It does work great because it's acidic, not caustic. Just a little pH difference.
