Mini Interview
My first homebrew... It was the worst. I treated it like I was cooking a meal. It was the holidays so, I tried spicing it up with a dash here of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg there. Only the cinnamon jar had clove in it. The beer was badly infected with acetobacter. Fermentation temps ran roughshod. It tasted cidery, putrid and like an Easter ham. But it inspired me to get better. A lot better.
Homebrewing Story... OK. If the ham cider satan's-anus brew story wasn't a good enough ...there is the time I put a floating glass thermometer in my freshly-cooled wort...then proceeded to shake the hell out of the bucket to aerate my wort. The thermometer shattered. I let it ferment out and tried to strain out the glass. The resulting beer had leached iron from the steel pellets in the thermometer. It tasted like satan's metal anus. I also cut my tongue on a sample beer and dumped the entire batch.

Why I homebrew... I love it. I love the recipe design. I love the process. And in the end, I get five gallons of "free beer."
Brewing Accomplishments I've won a few first place American Ales and NW specialty categories. Took a second as well. But most important to me, is brewing quality beer that I, my friends and my wife can enjoy.
