Mini Interview |

| My first homebrew... | Steam Beer Kit, all extract. Following directions it came out surprisingle well. I was hooked afdter that. Once I started to try stuff on my own.... Well it took a few batches before I figured that 2 pounds of Black Patent Malt wouldn't make a good Brown Ale, hahaha. |
| Homebrewing Story... | One time I deicded to brew Raspberry Ale. I used over 8 pounds of 2 Row Pale plus other stuff I don't remember. At the end of the boil I shut the heat off and threw 9 pounds of cleaned and hand crushed raspberries in the pot. I let it settle out and steap for 10 minutes before chilling it. I then dumped the whole thing in my plastic primary at the time, fruit and all. I pitched the yeast and put a little air lock on the top of the lid like I did several time before. I didn't realize how much extra sugar the fruit was going to introduce to the wort. Needless to say, the fermentation was so wild that the trub clogged up the air lock. Before long the top of the fermenter blew up. It made the loudest noise and beer shot to the overhead. I was living with my parents at the time (ahhh, collage years),So my mom had a shit fit. I was able to salvage the beer. I transfered it into a glass carboy for two weeks and then bottled. After two week in the bottle the beer tasted like crap!!! I thought it was a bad batch. It was so tarty and acidy. Really lousy. Well I left it in the celler for 7 month almost forgetting about it. I opened up a bottle after that long a time and all the bad falvors seemed to dissipate. It turned out to be one of the best beers I've ever brewed in my life. I wish I new what the recipe was. That was like 10 year ago. I took almost ten year off from brewing and now I'm back full swing. I really love this hobby. |
