Recipe Details
Tasting Notes Golden colored ale that pours with a long lasting white head, not too big on the hops so it does not scare anybody - a well balanced pint.
Awards none
Boil Volume 7.00 gallons
Boil Time 70 minutes
Batch Size 5.00 gallons
Yeast Nottingham - dry (75% app. attenuation)
Primary Fermentation Glass, 10 days @ 70F
Secondary Fermentation Glass 21 days @ 70F
Other Fermentation Glass 4 months @ 50F
Procedure This is a no sparge brew... you can rinse the grains and do a small beer if you choose (add malt extract)... Mash @ 148F for 60 mins then drain to kettle... boil for 70 mins total... Not sparging makes the end product smooth. The flaked barley for head retention, and the sugar to dry it out a bit. I was surprised that the yeast did a good job as far as bringing it down so far.
