06B. American Pale Ales, American Amber Ale
This is a amber that comes out red. I used american hops for this beer and it came out great.

Recipe Details
Tasting Notes When first kegged it has a roasty type caracter to it but after lagering for a month it has turned into a real head turner. The yeast I used leaves a little sweetness and malt character. So far it seems to be a good gateway beer for my BMC buddies. And they think they are dark beer drinkers because of the deep red color.
Boil Volume 2.00 gallons
Boil Time 60 minutes
Batch Size 5.00 gallons
Yeast Safale S-04 (73% app. attenuation)
Primary Fermentation glass for a 1 1/2 weeks.
Secondary Fermentation kegged
Other Fermentation N/A
Procedure Steep grains and bring pot to boil. add bittering hops and extract. Boil for 45 minutes and add irish moss. boil additional 10 minutes and add the .25 oz at 55 minutes. boil another 5 minutes and add late addition hops. I then cover the pot with aluminum foil and keep finishing hops in until cooled to wort pitching temp. I lagered this for a month mainly because I was busy and was working on emptying other kegs and now I am going to start lagering this as a requirement. I have made this one a few times and it came out great.
