Description
This is an exceptionally rich and deep stout that is perfect for those cold, January nights. Good stuff named after our favorite anime. Have a few, then ride the bus home!

Recipe Details
Tasting Notes The chocolate and roasted malts create an almost espresso-like flavor. The vanilla and lactose remind me of cafe mochas in front of a fire. Hops are muted up front, but their spicy-woodiness lingers after the initial chocolate fades. Mouthfeel is hearty, but not tar-like. Head is a dark tan color, but melts away quickly due to the chocolate oils. Little to no lacing. The color is all dark and nocturnal.

Yeast White Labs Burton Ale Yeast (liquid) (75% app. attenuation)
Primary Fermentation 7 days in 6 gallon glass carboy
Secondary Fermentation 21 days in 5 gallon glass carboy
Other Fermentation 2 months in bottles
Procedure Partial mash of grains at 150 degrees F for 45 minutes. Sparge with 170 degree water until grains run clear. Vanilla is added into secondary.
