OK need some advice on putting this together.. I can do sanitary TIG Welds
I scored 2 15.5 g straight sided kegs for $80.00.. 1 is for my new HLT the other I'm going to make a keggal and sell to make back some $$
Questions, 1.how long of a 1/2in coil do I need
2. heating element mounting on the side(horizontal) or bottom(vertical)if bottom can't use a burner if needed
3. removable lid or weld it back up with pressure relief
4.High-Watt Density Basic Screw-In Element, 240V 1500W $8.95
or Incoloy Nickel Base Premium Screw-In Element, 240V 1500W $21.95
parts list so far
1/2 SS ball valve and short nipple
1/2 half coupler
50 ft copper tubing 1/2, couple of pieces of SS tubing to pass threw sides soldered to copper
3 1/2 SS barbed nipples
1500w heating element
1" nut of half coupler for element,, or find a old hot water heater and cut out the bung
Johnson controller/switch/box A419ABC-1C $54.95
2 thermo-wells gona make my own SS 3/8 tubes sealed at end and welded in
1 dial thermometer

what else am I missing??????????? any good ideas???? pics???

Don't solder the copper tubing into the keg. You may want to remove it from time to time. Just use more 1/2" couplers and fittings.
