In case you didn't believe Casey or BB..... Casey is right... common American tap handles are 3/8 - 16

Don't feel bad scarrylarry, I bought 5/16" inserts to make tap handles before I realized they were 3/8". It seemed like the right size when I was in Blowes.

and I should know better than to do that, because it's another 17 miles back to the store for the exchange.

Exchanges suck. I'll be ready to grab 1-2 things and swmbo will dig out some knobs for cabinets and other bull$hit and then I gotta wait in line.

BB...when you made your tap handles, did you make one for each kind of brew or are the name plates exchangable?

I used these things, so I could label them as needed, IE Sucky Ale, Really Sucky Lager, J's Ale, etc. I believe I used the 2 1/4" ones. That was the widest I could use and maintain the space between the tap handles.

never thought of using those.... what did you use for the handle themselves? i've seen people cut down stair spindles or and glue moldings together for fancy ones.

Here's what I did. I cut them out of a piece of red oak.

FYI Those frames come with very small brass nails. Pre-drill small holes and press them in. Don't try and hammer them into oak.

I've got some big dogs that make those handles every day. I'm going to epoxy coat them and start a new eBay business.
