Question from an allgrain newbie. I know how to calculate IBU from hops, but is there a general rule for the amount of hops used for taste/aroma. I know it depends on style and when they are added. Is there a ratio compared to the amount of bittering hops. If I were to use 1 oz for bittering, how much will give me a significant taste/ aroma. I know it depends on hops variety, etc. Thanks

Not a seller, just a satisfied customer.
Download Beersmith and play with it. It makes a lot of things much easier.

I don't think there is any way to measure or predict flavor or aroma from hops...other than experience. This is still a tough thing for me to get right. I find Ray Daniels' "Designing Great Beers" helpful. It shows the typical type and amount of flavor/aroma hops used for common beer styles.
