I made a Belgian Dubbel which i pitched yeast into about 30 hours ago. I used Wyeast Belgian Abbey II and i checked it out this morning and there is little action as far as fermentation, but there are some small clumps floating at the surface. I am assuming that this is the yeast since it is a light tan color, but the shape of the clumps dont really look too good. Anybody know what this could be?
thanks

+1 Jeff

It's yeast and it sounds perfectly normal, quit worrying and leave it alone...

Yeah, I have not had 1762 ferment like that not to say it isnt fermenting after 30 hours. Belgian yeasts can be flakey. Starter? Yeast health/Age?, Pitch rate? Temp?

Turns out that I had dropped the temp too low; as soon as i brought the temp back up it started bubbling away, so hopefully everything is good.
thanks for the responses
