So on a whim last Friday I brewed a rather dark ale with heather and ginger and cinnamon. I'm waiting for this Friday to bottle. So while I wait, I'm wondering if anyone else has brewed with heather, and how much you would normally use for a 5 gallon batch.

I really love Fraoch Heather Ale from Scotland. It is such a refreshing change from what us Americans are all used to. Don't let the "famous" homebrewers guide your decisions on what or what not to brew! I used to be famous, now I'm just a homebrewer that makes independent brewing decisions....right on time for Indy Day! Cheers to everyone that brews! Have a safe and happy Indy Day!!!!

All I do is give advice like everybody else on here, people can take it as they will...you love the heather ale, I don't....two sides of the same coin.

You are truly dedicated to our craft and we all love you man....didn't mean any disR on the last post. Just want these newer brewers to do what we have done back in the day and try new stuff and make discoveries they can share with the collective. BREW ON!

Fighting? Not from my point of view....Bob's a good buddy and I didn't want him to think that I took myself seriously! Of course I want new brewers to try stuff on their own...that's how we all learned. But I know that when I was a new brewer looking for stuff to try, I also looked for opinions form people whose experience I could trust. I didn't necessarily do what they said, but I took their opinions into account when I decided what to try.

Good counterpoint buddy....there are fights and such and us old time homebrewers have our different opinions but, with most of us it is merely friendly discussion usually whilst there is the nectar passing our lips. DC are you gonna try to make it down to NCHFX? It sounds like it is gonna be a blast.
